Chico City Council debate tonight – support our candidates, live webcast available

October 6, 2008

Republican Friends,

Tonight is the Chico City Council debate. 7pm at Chico City Hall. This debate always gets heated as our conservative candidates take on the big spending liberals for Chico City Council.

This one is definitely worth watching and I’m sure our candidates, Larry Wahl, Mark Sorenson, Joe Valente, and Cynthia Van Auken, would really appreciate some friendly faces in the audience.

A live webcast is also available, courtesy a system provided by Anthony Watts. Click the link below.

Weekly Update

Republican Friends,

DEBATES: What a great evening it was watching Sarah Palin tonight in her debate against Joe Biden. We were all once again reminded of what a dynamic and outstanding lady she really is and it was nice to see her fighting back against the liberals who keep attacking her. Way to go Sarah, and special thanks goes out to Scott and Jennifer Pfeiffer for hosting the debate party.

After the Palin/Biden debate, I drove to Oroville for another debate of near equal importance. Tom McClintock debated his democrat opponent Charlie Brown tonight in front of a lively Oroville audience. Charlie Brown has a sneaky way of campaigning to sound like a pretty conservative guy, but seeing them together it clear to everyone, Tom McClintock is the real conservative deal. It was also good to see Republican supporters there like Supervisor Bill Connelly, Supervisor-elect Steve Lambert, and Oroville City Councilman Jaime Johansson.

VOTER REGISTRATION AT CSUC: My friends the great announcement tonight is that yesterday our efforts at Chico State University were a grand success. The free student BBQ brought in the students and the Chico State Republicans registered 104 new Republican voters!!! We will be doing this twice more on campus before the registration deadline of October 20th, and we could really use your help.

Of all the activities we can do for our party right now, registering new Republican voters is the most crucial!

We will be on the Chico State campus again Wednesday the 8th from 10:30am until about 3:30 in the afternoon. We could stay out there longer if we get more volunteers, especially someone who can help with the BBQ. Trust me you’ll be glad you came out when you see the college professors looking at
us in horror as they give us a very wide berth!

GRAND OPENING: This Sunday at 4pm is our official grand opening of our Chico headquarters, 1450 Mangrove ave. We’d love to have you join us.

Steve Thompson, Chairman
Butte County Republican Party
